Fall 2021 Online Option

  • Online learning this coming fall will be different from what students experienced during the 2020-2021 school year. Questions about your student-specific needs should be directed to your student's building administrator. If you have a question that is not answered here, feel free to email questions@OregonSD.org.

Grades Kindergarten-8

  • A full online learning option will be available to families with students in kindergarten through grade 8. This online learning option will be different from what students experienced during the 202-2021 school year.

Students will use curriculum from one of OSD’s online learning partners, Edmentum or Stride Learning. Below is a summary of the online experience you can expect by grade level.  View FAQs below to learn more. For questions contact your school administrator or email questions@OregonSD.org.

    Grades K-2:

    • Students in grades K-2 will receive live online classes from a Wisconsin licensed teacher in order to provide the support needed for younger students.
    • K-2 students can expect to spend 4 hours per day in synchronous classes with a teacher Monday-Thursday, with the remaining time and Fridays being asynchronous.
    • An OSD liaison will check in with students once per week (Fridays).
    • Students in grades K-2 will participate in required assessments (e.g., STAR, Literably).
    • Participation requires at least a semester commitment.

    Grades 3-8

    • Grade 3-8 students will engage in self-paced asynchronous online lessons (there will be no live or recorded lessons).
    • Parents / caregivers will serve as the primary support, and a Wisconsin licensed instructor(s) available as a resource.
    • Students / parents will be responsible for setting their own learning schedules.
    • The amount of time spent online will vary based on the student and subject.
    • An OSD liaison will check in with students once per week.
    • Students in grades 3-8 will participate in required assessments (e.g., STAR, Literably).
    • Participation requires at least a semester commitment.

OHS Grades 9-12

  • There will be an option for students to select a blended schedule (1-2 online courses) and an option for students to be fully online (the full online option will be very different from what was offered last year). Both options require an application process to ensure that the format is appropriate for your student. Review FAQs for additional information or contact our Online/Blended Learning Coordinator, Jennifer Schmitt, at jaschmitt@OregonSD.org

Blended Learning Schedule (1-2 online classes)

    • OHS has a rich tradition of blended course schedules (1-2 online courses); pre-pandemic, about 40% of our OHS graduates engaged in at least one online course prior to graduation.
    • Students participate in-person, and have blended learning activities for 1-2 courses in their schedules.
    • Courses are taught by either OSD instructors or by WI licensed instructors if the class is not offered at OHS.

     Full Online Learning

    • Curriculum and instruction will be provided by WI licensed instructors from one of OSD’s online learning partners, Edmentum or Stride Learning.
    • Learning will be asynchronous (not real time) and requires parental / caregiver support.
    • An OSD liaison will check in with fully online students once per week.
    • Participation requires at least a semester commitment.
