Kit Laibly

Hello OMS Families! My name is Kit Laibly and I am one of the school counselors here at OMS. I help to proactively support your learners on their exciting, yet often challenging, middle school journey to help them be high-school ready.  I attended UW-LaCrosse where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Management with an Emphasis in Psychology and Lakeland College where I received my Masters in School Counseling. I also have extensive training in Restorative Justice practices and enjoy helping young people learn better ways to navigate their way through conflict. The best part of my work is helping students to develop leadership skills,  advocacy skills, and to find (and use) their voice in proactive ways. This is my second year at OMS after 19 years working in the Madison Metropolitan School District and I'm so happy to be part of the OMS Team!

Emily Severson

Hi!

My name is Emily Severson, and I am one of the School Counselors at Oregon Middle School.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Edgewood College in 2006, my Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 2009, and my Principal and Director of Instruction Licenses from National Louis University in 2014.  I served as a School Counselor, Student Services Specialist, and Dean of Students in the Janesville School District for seven years prior to joining the Oregon Middle School team as a School Counselor in 2017.  As I embark on my tenth year in education, my goal remains to support students at OMS through a social/emotional, academic, and career lens.  I look forward to building a relationship with and partnering with all stakeholders who are key in facilitating student success:  staff, parents, and outside agencies.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can help support your child in any way.  Thank you!

Amanda Sedlacek

I am so excited to be a part of the Oregon Community and especially the Middle School! I received my Bachelors in Psychology from UW-Platteville in 2016 and my Masters in Social Work from UW-Milwaukee in 2019. I served as a school social worker in the Twin Cities metro in Minnesota for 2 years within multiple different charter schools and I am so excited to be back in my home state! As the school social worker, my goal is to connect the students and families with community and school resources, help students knock down barriers in school and in their personal lives, and to support them mentally and emotionally through individual or group counseling. I love being able to connect with students and create a safe space for them while they are at school so I look forward to building these relationships with the students, families, and community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for anything you, your family, or child may need. I am here to support you the best way I can!
