Emily Severson

Hi! My name is Emily Severson and I am a full time School Counselor at Oregon Middle School.  The 2017 - 2018 school year was my first at OMS, but  I have served as a School Counselor, Student Services Specialist, and Dean of Students over the last several years in the School District of Janesville.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Edgewood College in 2006, my Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 2009, and my Principal and Director of Instruction Licenses from National Louis University in 2014.  I have always had a passion for working with and helping students - whether it was as a Big Sister, basketball coach, or in my role as a School Counselor.  I feel extremely fortunate to be working in the Oregon School District where I can help students reach their fullest potentials as they grow into young adults.  In my free time, I enjoy being with my family on our farm, watching and playing sports, and baking.

You can feel free to contact me if you have an academic, social/emotional, or career question/concern specific to your student.  Additionally, we partner with outside community agencies to provide both individual and small group counseling opportunities for our students here at OMS, and you can reach out to me to acquire additional information about those opportunities.  I have also been trained in Restorative Justice practices and incorporate this into my work as a school counselor; specifically, helping students resolve conflict and teaching them those important, life long skills in the process.  So, feel free to contact me if your student would like assistance in the area of conflict resolution. I look forward to partnering with you to foster a successful middle school experience for your student!
