Our Meal Program Offers the Nutrition Kids Need!

School meals look very different from decades past!

The OSD School Nutrition Program is known for:

  • Surpassing USDA nutritional guidelines
  • Providing a variety of daily options that kids love
  • Offering kids unlimited fresh fruits and veggies each day
  • Partnering with farms and suppliers to provide fresh, locally sourced ingredients
  • Offering low fat or fat-free milk with every meal
  • Aligning to portion sizes specified by USDA
  • Hosting “Try-It Days” to introduce students to new, healthy foods
  • Incorporating student feedback into menu design
  • Helping families in need apply for free and reduced-price meals
  • Offering families who have extra a way to help those in need

  • Try new fruits and vegetables multiple times.
  • A meal is a family affair—have the family help plan meals.
  • Frozen and canned are just as nutritious as fresh.
