School Safety

School Safety

As parents, educators, students, and a close community, there is nothing more sacred than the safety and security of our children and schools. We cannot overstate that that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. The Oregon School District has strong partnerships with law enforcement and work closely with them on safety plans and safety-related events.

Our families and community also have an important role in keeping our schools safe. We encourage our students and school community to report anything that could constitute a threat to school safety to a trusted adult, local law enforcement, or the Speak Up Speak Out Safety Tip Line.  This confidential tip line offers an option for anyone to report matters they may be concerned about. If in doubt, make the report.

Here are a few things that everyone can do to help with school safety:

  1. Familiarize or remind yourself with our school safety procedures.
  2. Ensure that any weapons in your home are secured, as discussed Inside the OSD Podcast (S2 E14: Keeping Our Kids Safe) and safe storage resources.
  3. Review resources for supporting and talking with students about difficult topics

We thank law enforcement, families, students, staff, and community members for the continued support and the efforts to keep our school community safe.
