Farm to School is a nationwide movement to enrich the connection between communities and their local foods. Nutrition education, school gardens, and procurement of local foods for school meals are a few of the delicious ways we aim to nourish our community's wellness, economy, and environmental stewardship. Harvest of the Month
Hello, Farm to School Friends!
My name is Zee Dalichau and I am the new F2S OSD member. I am currently working on a BSA in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing. It is my first time serving for AmeriCorps and I can not wait to get started.
I grew up and graduated from Baraboo, WI in 2008 and did a semester at the Disney College Program in the spring of 2009 where I was a Merchantainer at Hollywood Studios. After that, I spent 10 years in Wisconsin Dells doing retail, 8 of which were in management. The pandemic gave me a chance to re-evaluate my goals and I discovered that my passions lie outside customer service and instead in community service. It was then that I spent time helping the WERA and FoodShare programs, where I learned a lot about our communities and the struggles they face.
I am driven to help overcome the food insecurities that many in our communities have been facing and work with the community to build a healthier mindset. I hope to spread my passion for gardening to our youth and their families and help encourage the kids of our community to try new foods, find joy in gardening, and learn more about the local food community.
Here's to a great year!
