Kit Laibly

Hello OMS Families! My name is Kit Laibly and I am one of the school counselors here at OMS. I help to proactively support your learners on their exciting, yet often challenging, middle school journey to help them be high-school ready.  I attended UW-LaCrosse where I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and Recreation Management with an Emphasis in Psychology and Lakeland College where I received my Masters in School Counseling. I also have extensive training in Restorative Justice practices and enjoy helping young people learn better ways to navigate their way through conflict. The best part of my work is helping students to develop leadership skills,  advocacy skills, and to find (and use) their voice in proactive ways. This is my second year at OMS after 19 years working in the Madison Metropolitan School District and I'm so happy to be part of the OMS Team!

Hi!

My name is Emily Severson, and I am one of the School Counselors at Oregon Middle School.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Edgewood College in 2006, my Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater in 2009, and my Principal and Director of Instruction Licenses from National Louis University in 2014.  I served as a School Counselor, Student Services Specialist, and Dean of Students in the Janesville School District for seven years prior to joining the Oregon Middle School team as a School Counselor in 2017.  As I embark on my tenth year in education, my goal remains to support students at OMS through a social/emotional, academic, and career lens.  I look forward to building a relationship with and partnering with all stakeholders who are key in facilitating student success:  staff, parents, and outside agencies.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can help support your child in any way.  Thank you!
