PRACTICE at HOME
-
Practice your old and new vocabulary with flashcards. This is one of the easiest and most effective way to memorize new words.
- Create flashcards of your Spanish vocabulary list. Write the Spanish word on one side of the card and the English word on the other side.
- When you first start studying, look at the Spanish word and quiz yourself if you know what it means in English. For a bigger challenge, try it backwards and look at the English word and quiz yourself if you know it in Spanish.
- As you go through your cards, make three piles: YES! (you know these words without having to think twice), MAYBE (you might get these words correct, but needed to think hard about it or guess), and NOT YET (words that you don't remember).
- Once you go through all your flashcards, you should have three piles. Focus your studying time on practicing the words that you are still learning (your MAYBE and NOT YET piles). Keep studying until you feel confident on ALL your vocabulary!
QUIZLET - this is a free, online program. Quizlet is like an online set of flashcards and you can study using fun games and quizzes. Quizlet also has audio of the vocab words so you can practice your pronunciation too! We have Quizlet links for each vocab unit (find Quizlet links on the specific vocab unit webpage under your 5o Grado or 6o Grado tab on the left side).
DUOLINGO - Duolingo is an online language learning tool available for FREE. It does not follow our units at RCI, but can be a helpful tool to keep practicing useful Spanish phrases and pronunciation.
