With the exception of hockey, a coach could vote equally for two or more candidates by averaging the number points equal to the number of positions selected.  For example, in selecting two ends in football using (b) above the 7 and 5 may be used for two separate nominees or you may give each of the two men 6.  In (c) above, each of the three running backs could receive a 7-point ballot by averaging the 9, 7, and 5, providing the coach felt the candidates were all equally deserving.  This could be a possibility but may never occur.  Votes may not be split where fractions result.  This does not apply to tie breaking!

8.  HONORABLE MENTION:

Where HONORABLE MENTION is used players must receive a vote if not otherwise explained below.

            # In the case of ties involving HONORABLE MENTION status, all ties stand.

Girl’s Basketball: any player not on first team that receives a vote, including the “zero” vote is on the Honorable Mention list.

Boys’ Basketball: the Honorable Mention players are decided by a second vote of players that did not make the first team.  The top ten (10) of this vote becomes Honorable Mention.

Gymnastics: Three honorable mention selections will be awarded for each individual event and all around. (3/14/07)

Hockey:   Honorable mention players are decided by a second vote of players that did not make first or second team.  The top eight (8) become honorable     mention.  Voting for honorable mention will be:  All positions – 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Boys’ Soccer: Honorable mention players are decided by those position players that receive the highest vote after the 1st and 2nd team selections are made. The honorable mention team will be made up of (1) goalie, (4) defenders, (4) midfielders, and (2) forwards.

            (See page 1 - Voting)

10.  In case of a TIE - the number of first place votes would be the first determining factor.

If still tied at this point, the candidates involved directly in the tie would be re-voted upon using the two-position (b) or (c) if three are tied.  All schools must   vote by silent ballot except those with athletes involved - cannot split votes or abstain!

If the still remain tied at this point -- THE TIE WOULD STAND!

            # In the case of ties involving HONORABLE MENTION status, all ties stand
