SOFTBALL
I. Levels of Competition
A. Varsity
B. Junior Varsity
C. Freshmen
II. Schedules
A. Double round robin schedule.
B. The J.V. schedule shall be the same as the Varsity with the games played on the same day as the Varsity.
C. Freshmen will play a 12 game schedule. McFarland will sponsor a freshmen team starting in the spring of 2008. (11/09/2006)
D. Badger North and Badger South will have separate divisional champions. A school will play each team in it’s division twice with single game scheduled.
E. When byes occur the northern schools will be scheduled to play
the corresponding southern school on the first round with home site being
reversed in the second round. Schools will play the same school in the first
round as they did in the second round. One baseball double header will be

III. Starting times
A. 5:00 for single games on week nights.
B. 11:00 AM for doubleheaders on Saturday.
Contest Procedures
A. Warm up
1. The home team takes infield 30 minutes before game time for 15 minutes. The visiting team follows for 15 minutes.
2. There will be a maximum of 20 minutes between games of a doubleheader.
B. The J.V. and Frosh will use a two hour time limit. If the score is tied the game will be completed unless darkness prohibits. Once an inning starts, the home team should have the opportunity to bat.
C. Pre-game meetings should include umpires, coaches, and team captains.
D. Optic yellow Dudley softball is the official league softball.
E. The host school will supply softballs for both games of a doubleheader.
F. Home team is responsible for reporting the results to the media.
G. Suggested rain-out policy or postponement
1. Tuesday rainouts go to Friday or the following Monday.
2. Thursday rainouts go to Friday or the following Monday.
3. Friday rainouts go to the following Monday.
4. Doubleheader rainouts go to the next available Saturday or 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
5. Suggested rainout policy or postponement: Rescheduling of postponed games should be left to the discretion of the two schools athletic directors with coaches involved. It is desirable to reschedule as soon as possible.
V. Officials
The conference commissioner or designate (Assistant Commissioner) will hire all varsity conference officials. No umpire shall be hired to officiate a Varsity game involving the school that he or she works for. The home team will pay officials fees for when a game is cancelled due to weather conditions with the stipulation that they could not be communicated with prior to the game. (4/19/06)
VI. All-Conference
A. Selection of the 12 member first team and 12 member second team as per conference policy. (See Appendix)
B. Two pitchers, 2 catchers, 4 infielders and 3 outfielders and a DH/Utility will be selected for both the first team and second team.
VII. Awards
A. Conference champion(s) shall be determined by won-loss record.
B. A trophy will be awarded to the conference champion(s).
C. First team players receive a medal, folder and certificate. Second team players receive a folder and certificate.
VIII. Meetings
A. W.I.A.A. rules interpretation.
B. Conference coaches meeting. The meeting will be scheduled on the first Sunday after the last scheduled conference game, unless that Sunday falls on Memorial Day weekend. 6/09/2004)
