I. Level of Competition
A. Varsity
B. Junior Varsity
C. An individual may compete in Varsity and JV during the same meet as long as 2 individual events and 2 relays or 1 individual event and 3 relays rule is not violated.
II. Schedules
A. A round robin dual meet Varsity and Junior Varsity schedule will be followed.
B. A non-conference school may not be added to a conference meet.
C. For girls’ swimming, Badger North and Badger South will have division champions. Badger North: (2008) Baraboo, DeForest, Lodi (10/08/08), Portage, River Valley, Sauk Prairie, and Waunakee. (11/09/2006) Mount Horeb and Reedsburg do not sponsor girls’ swimming. Badger South: (2008) Fort Atkinson (2008), Madison Edgewood, McFarland (10/08/08), Milton (2008), Monona Grove, Monroe, Oregon, and Stoughton. (11/09/2006) The division championship will be determined by both the place in the round robin dual meet standings and the final place in the conference meet equally weighted.
1. Teams will be awarded 1 point for each dual
meet victory and a ˝ point for a tie. (3/10/2004)
2. Points awarded from the Conference Meet finish are:
North: 1st - 6 points, 2nd – 5 points, 3rd – 4 points, 4th – 3 points, 5th – 2 points, 6th – 1 point.
South: 1st - 7 points, 2nd – 6 points, 3rd – 5 points, 4th – 4 points, 5th – 3 points, 6th – 2 points, 7th – 1 point
D. No dual conference meets will be scheduled the week of the Conference Meet.
III. Starting times
A. Dual meets recommended starting time is 6:00 p.m.
B. The conference meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
C. If there are scheduling conflicts at the host school, the Conference meet may be held on Friday at 5:30/6:00.
IV. Contest Procedures
A. W.I.A.A. rules and regulations shall govern all swim meets.
B. Dual meets
1. The Junior Varsity shall swim first in all events and the Varsity race in the same event shall follow the Junior Varsity race.
2. One exhibition heat of the 50 freestyle and the 200 freestyle to the dual meet format to be swum just prior to the JV heat of these respective events. (9/10/08)
3. There will be a fifteen-minute break after the Varsity heat of 50 Free with ten minutes in the water for warm up swimming.
C. Conference Meet Format
1. Girls’ swimming will hold separate Badger North and Badger South Conference Meets. The North meet host and site will rotate between DeForest, Baraboo, and Waunakee. The South meets will be held at Monona Grove, Stoughton, and Fort Atkinson. (9/10/08)

2. Entries shall be sent to the athletic director or coach of the host school as per requested by the school. Entries are due to the host school by Monday at noon on the week of the meet. Scratches and substitutions are due to the meet manager by noon in writing on the day of the meet. These changes will be reported at the coaches meeting. (11/10/04)
3. There shall be 16 place scoring at the Conference meet.
4. Each school shall be allowed 24 entries in individual events Each school shall be allowed 24 entries in individual events. Each school is allowed 2 relay entries per relay.
5.There will be a twenty-minute break after the last heat of 50 Free with fifteen minutes in the water for warm up swimming.
6. The host school's meet committee shall establish all heats, time schedule, and procedures.
7. The conference commissioner or designee will
make reservations for the Badger Conference Swim Meet. The designee will be the athletic director
of the school that is to “host” the meet. Host school has the option to hold
the meet on a Friday or Saturday night. (11/10/05)
8. Awards for the 100 breaststroke will be presented before the final heat of the 400 free style relay.
D. Badger Conference JV Swim Meet: The host school will invite non-conference schools to fill events if entries are needed. The meet host rotation will be as follows: Baraboo, DeForest, Monona Grove, Stoughton, and Waunakee. The meet will be held on the Tuesday after the last conference dual meet. (10/12/2006) When a school in either the North or South has to host the varsity Badger Conference meet that school will not be scheduled to host the Badger Conference JV Swim Meet. (8/13/2007) Assignments will be adjusted to resolve this situation.
V. Officials
A. The host school hires officials.
B. There shall be at least 3 officials at the conference meet.
VI. Awards
A. A championship trophy is awarded to the conference champion (s).
B. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each event at the conference meet.
VII. Meetings
A. The W.I.A.A. rules interpretation.
B. Conference coaches will meet on the 1st Monday after the start of the season. (11/10/2005)
