Boys’ Swim

 

I.     Level of Competition

A.     Varsity

B.     Junior Varsity

C.     An individual may compete in Varsity and JV events during the same meet as long as 2 individual events and 2 relays or 1 individual event and 3 relays rule is not violated.

II.   Schedules

A.   A round robin dual meet Varsity and Junior Varsity schedule will be followed.

B.    The conference will host a Northern and Southern divisions starting in the 2008/2009 school years. North: Baraboo, DeForest/Sun Prairie, McFarland, Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights, and Waunakee. South: Madison Edgewood, Fort Atkinson, Milton, Monona Grove, Oregon, and Stoughton. A conference meet for the North and South will be held to determine the Badger North and South champions. C.    A non-conference school may not be added to a conference meet.

D.   No dual conference meets will be scheduled the week of the Conference Meet.

E.    The Conference Relays will be scheduled on the second Tuesday in December. (3/12/2008). The Badger Conference Relays will be an eleven-school meet hosted by five schools starting in the 2009/2010 school year. Host school order: 2010 – Waunakee, 2011 – Baraboo, 2012 – Fort Atkinson, 2013 – Monona Grove, 2014 – Stoughton. A traveling trophy will be awarded to the meet champion. (311/2009)

III. Starting times

A.   Dual meets recommended starting time is 6:00 p.m.

B.    The conference meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.

C.    If there are scheduling conflicts at the host school the Conference meet may be held on Friday at 5:30/6:00.

IV   Contest Procedure

A.   W.I.A.A. rules and regulations shall govern all swim meets.

B.    Dual meets

1.      The Junior Varsity shall swim first in all events and the Varsity race in the same event shall follow the Junior Varsity race.

2.      There will be a fifteen-minute break after the Varsity heat of 50 Free with ten minutes in the water for warm up swimming.

3.      Swimmers may be entered in a maximum of four events total for the conference and JV meets combined (2 individuals / 2 relays, or 1 individual / 3 relays). A swimmer may not be entered in the same event at both meets. (3/08/06)

C.    Conference Meet Format

1.The Badger North and South will form a 10-team conference with a single round robin of meets. The boys’ swim championship will be determined by both place in the round robin dual meet standings and place in the conference meet. One point will be awarded for a win, one half point for a tie, and zero for a lost in the dual meet schedule. Points awarded at the conference meet finish will be 1st – 10 points, 2nd 9 points moving to 10th place which will be 1 point. Ties will spit the points awarded. (3/10/2004)

A. The following six schools in the South and North divisions because of facility size and pool requirements will host the South and North  division    conference championship meets. The rotation will begin in 2009 and will repeat the order again in 2012. (6/04/08)

D.   Conference Meet

1.  Entries shall be sent to the athletic director or coach of the host school as per requested by the school.  Entries are due to the host school by Monday at noon on the week of the meet.  Scratches and substitutions are due to the meet manager by noon in writing on the day of the meet.  These changes will be reported at the coaches meeting at 12:40 p.m.

A.     There shall be 16 place scoring at the Conference meet.

B.     Each school shall be allowed 24 entries in individual events. Each school shall be allowed 24 entries in individual events.  Each school is allowed 2 relay entries per relay.

C.  There will be a twenty-minute break after the last heat of 50 Free with fifteen minutes in the water for warm up swimming.

           D. The host school's meet committee shall establish all heats, time schedule, and   procedures.

F. Awards for the 100 breaststroke will be presented before the final heat of the 400 free style relay.

           G. The conference meet will keep team scores to be used to break ties with-in the conference standings.

V   Junior Varsity Meet

A. The conference will host one combined Varsity and JV relay meet. (7/21/2009)

VI   Officials

A.   The host school hires officials.

B.    There shall be at least 3 officials at the conference meet.

VII.  Awards

A.        A championship trophy is awarded to the conference champion (s).

B.        Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each event at the conference meet.

A.   The W.I.A.A. rules interpretation.

B.    Coaches meeting scheduled by conference commissioner.
