BOYS’ SOCCER

 

I.       Levels of Competition

 

A.            There shall be three levels of competition

1.     Varsity

2.     Junior Varsity

3.     Freshman

 

II.       Schedules

 

A.         Varsity

1.     Badger North/South will each have seven Boys’ soccer teams. (Monroe – 2005) There will be divisional champions based on round robin games in the division.  The commissioner is also to schedule four non-conference crossover dates between the two divisions. On the last scheduled crossover date a North vs South Challenge will be scheduled by the conference commissioner based on won/lost records plus additional criteria to be established. (11/09/06) Wisconsin Dells will join the Badger North division – 2006. (2/09/05) Criteria for Badger Challenge in cases of ties: 1. Try to avoid repeat competition. 2. Head to head competition, 3. Least goals allowed in conference play, 4. Coin flip. (11/14/07)

 

2.     Varsity games shall begin at 7:00 p.m. with all announcements and introductions completed so that kickoff time is 7:00 p.m.  Games played at some schools may have an earlier kickoff time due to facility.

 

    B.        Junior Varsity

1.     Single round robin will follow Varsity schedule - same site.

2.     J.V. games shall begin at 5:00 p.m. If field conditions are unsatisfactory, J.V. games may be moved to an alternate site.

3.     If a JV game ends in a tie during regulation time, there will be no sudden victory overtime.

4.     A school may play seniors on a JV squad.

 

   C.         Freshman

1.     The commissioner will schedule both boys and girls freshman soccer. Twelve games will be scheduled on Mondays and Fridays. McFarland will be added to the freshmen schedule starting in 2008. (11/09/2006)

2.     Games will be played at 5:00 p.m.

 

III      Contest Procedures

 

A.            The Conference commissioner will hire the officiating crews for conference JV and Varsity games, unless both games are played at the same time. Host schools will hire officials for freshman games and JV games held at the same time as the varsity game.

1, Varsity will have 3 officials.

2.Freshman and JV games will have 2 officials.

B.             Team rosters including number, name, year, and position, will be sent to each conference school at the beginning of the season and coaches will exchange starting lineups prior to the start of each game.

C.             The home school will wear light jerseys.

D.            Home team is responsible for reporting game results to the media.

 

IV       Conference Standings

 

A.            Conference trophy is award to first place teams based on dual meet records.

B.              Conference standings

1. During round robin play, a win equals 1 point, a tie equals 1/2 point.

 

V.       All-Conference Selection (See All-Conference procedures in Appendix F)  (10/08/2003)

A. All-Conference teams (1st and 2nd) shall consist of 2 forwards, 4 midfielders, 4 defenders, and 1 goalkeeper.

B. Voting shall be secret. (10/08/2003)  Coaches may not vote for their own players.

C. Honorable mention: (2) forwards, (4) midfielders, (4) defenders and (1) goalie will make up the honorable mention team based on the voting after the 1st & 2nd teams have been selected. (10/13/03)

D. Unanimous All – Conference will be awarded to those players receiving the highest votes/scores from each of the coaches. (11/10/05)

 

VI.   Awards

 

A.  Conference champion(s) receives a trophy.

B.  All-Conference

1.  First team All-Conference players receive a medal, folder and certificate.  Second team receives a folder and certificate.

2.  Coaches vote for a maximum of 2 forwards, 4 midfielders, 4 defenders, and 1 goalkeeper as per All-Conference policy.

3.  Players receiving "red cards" are eligible for All-Conference, but the fact that a player received a "red card" must be disclosed prior to voting.
