I. Levels of Competition

II. Champions
There will be separate Badger North and Badger South team champions. The championship will be determined by the result of the Badger Conference Championship meet only.
III. Badger Conference Championship Meet
A. The course distance for girls is 4000M and for boys is 5000M.
B. The host school is to provide a course map to the visiting schools.
A. Starters/Referees are hired by the host school.
B. The host school is responsible to call results into the media.
E. The
meets will be scheduled on the Saturday of week #15 (WIAA Calendar). The conference meet time schedules: (11/10/05)
9:30 AM Boys Varsity
10:10 AM Girls Varsity
10:50 AM Boys Junior Varsity
11:30 Noon Girls Junior Varsity
Boys & Girls will reverse time
slots for odd years.
F. A varsity team consists of 8 runners. Junior Varsity is unlimited. The three
runners after the first five runners from each team can displace runners in the
Badger Conference meet. (11/14/2007)
G. A team must have a scoring Varsity team (5 or more) before it may have any JV runners.
H. Boxes for starting line positions are drawn by lot. A school’s team will use the same box for all races.
I. The top eight (8) finishers at the Conference Meet are the All-Conference First Team and finishers 9-16 are the All-Conference Second Team. The first team will be awarded medals, folders and certificates. The second team will be awarded folders and certificates.

IV. Badger Conference “Challenge” Meet
A. The Badger Conference “Challenge” race will be held on the Tuesday of week #11 of the WIAA calendar. There will be 4 races: 9-10 boys, 9-10 girls, 11-12 boys, & 11-12 girls. Boys distance 5000M and girls’ races will be 4000M. (11/09/06) Ten individual medals per race are to be awarded. A $40.00 entry fee per school will be charged to cover the cost of meet officials and awards. The assistant commissioner will order medals for the challenge meet. Entry fees will cover the costs for the awards. A traveling plaque will be awarded to the overall girls’ and boys’ winner of the challenge based on the top five times of each team. Past winners will be placed on the plaque starting in the 2003/2004 school year. (9/11/2002)
B. The South will host the Badger Challenge in odd numbered years and the North will host the meet in even numbered years. Coaches with the approval of Ads’ will determine the site of the challenge.
C. The starting time of the Badger Challenge will be 4:00 P.M. (11/13/04) On even number years the boys’ will run first with the girls’ running first in odd number years. Time schedule: First race: 4:00 pm, Second race: 4:35, Third race: 5:10: & the Fourth race: 5:45. (11/09/06)
D. The conference commissioner will apply to the WIAA to allow varsity teams to be made up of eight varsity runners. (11/14/07)
IV. Meetings
The annual coaches business meeting will follow the WIAA sectional meet. .
