I.                    Levels of competition

 

A.     Varsity

      B.  Junior Varsity

C.     Freshmen - Multiple teams may be formed and designated as A and B teams.

 

II.                 Schedules

 

A.                 Varsity: The schedule shall be double round robin.

B.                 Junior Varsity: The Junior Varsity game will precede the Varsity game.

C.                 Freshmen: The games will be played on the same night as Varsity and J.V. teams.

D.                 Beginning in 2001-02, Badger North and Badger South will have separate division champions based on double round robin competition in their division.  The commissioner will schedule two crossover non-conference games between divisions.  

E.                  The commissioner will schedule two non-conference crossover games between the two divisions.  In the years where the beginning of the season is an odd numbered year, the home teams will be:

Round #1-Girls (North) & Boys (South)

Round #2 –Girls (South) & Boys (North)

In even numbered years, the home team will be:

Round #1-Girls (South) & Boys (North)

Round #2-Girls (North) & Boys (South)

 

F.                  The boys’ coaches approved a two year trial of hosting a boys Badger North/South Basketball Challenge. The games will be played at one site to be played over two days. Varsity and Junior

Varsity games will be played based on their league standings after the first round of games. Waunakee will host the first Badger Challenge (2009-2010) with Madison Edgewood (2010 – 2011) hosting the second year. (4/09/2008).

 

III.               Starting Times

 

A.                 Varsity games shall start at 7:30 PM or 20 minutes after the completion of the J.V. game, whichever is later.

B.                 Junior Varsity shall start at 5:50 with 8-minute quarters.

C.                 Freshmen games will start at 5:50. If only one game is played, 8-minute quarters and 10-minute halftime will be used.  If both an A & B game are played, 7 minute quarters, 10 minute half-time and 10 minutes between the games will be used.  If a fifth quarter is played it will be played with a 10 minute running clock.

 

IV.              Contest Procedures

 

A.                 The home team shall wear light uniforms and the visiting team dark uniforms.

B.                 A chalkboard will be provided in the visitor's locker room.

C.                 The home school will provide basketballs for warm-up for Varsity, JV and Freshmen games.

D.                 Pre-game Procedure

1.      20 minute warm up - running clock

2.      National Anthem

3.      Player introductions

 

NOTE:  Warm-up is only permitted for the two teams playing that particular event prior to and at halftime.

 

      F.         Home team is responsible for calling the media with results.

               

V.                 Officials

 

A.                 Varsity officials for conference contests are hired by the Schedule-Coordinator. Home teams will hire varsity officials for non-conference cross-over games.

B.                 The Freshmen and Junior Varsity officials are hired by the home school.

 

VI.              All-Conference

 

A.                 Boys’ coaches will select a five (5) player First Team and a (5) player Second Team All-Conference team.  (4/13/05)

B.                 Girls’ coaches will select a 10 person First Team. Players not selected to the first team and receiving a vote, including the “0” vote is on the Honorable Mention list.

C.                 First team players receive a medal, folder and certificate. Second team players receive a folder and a certificate. 

D.                 Procedure for selecting All-Conference Team and Honorable Mention - See Appendix F.

 

VII. Awards

 

A.                 The conference champion shall be determined by won and lost records.

B.                 A trophy shall be awarded the conference champion team(s).
