I.                    Levels of Competition

 

      There shall be three levels of competition

 

A.                 Varsity

B.                 Junior Varsity

C.                 Freshmen

 

II.                 Schedules

 

A.                 A double round robin schedule shall be played for Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshmen squads.

B.                 Games will be scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

C.                 Beginning in 2001-02, Badger North and Badger South will have separate divisional champions.  Schools will play twelve conference matches with a double round robin in their own division.  The starting time for JV and Freshmen is 5:30 p.m. (11/10/04) and the Varsity match at 7 :00 p.m. or 20 minutes after the completion of the JV match, whichever is later.

 

III.               Starting Times

 

All volleyball matches will begin at 5:30 p.m. (11/10/04)

A.                 Warm up procedure:  20 minutes

1.                  Duals

a.       J.V. and Freshmen- one team each side of net for stretching, team warm ups, and serving.  Split court by mutual agreement for setting, hitting and blocking.  Diagonal division of floor.

b.      Rally scoring will be used for freshmen and JV matches. Teams will play three games to 25, with let serve. A 3rd game would be exhibition if one team wins the first two games. (11/13/2003)

c.       Varsity starts at 7:00 or 20 minutes after J.V., whichever is later.  Do not warm up until both teams are done.  Home team takes game court first 10 minutes and Frosh court 2nd 10 minute.  Visitors are opposite.

 

IV.  Contest Procedures

 

A.                 Match Format:  Badger conference Varsity dual matches will use best 3 of 5 games format to determine a winner. 

B.                 Warm up: The warm-up time format will comply with WIAA tournament protocol.  (11/13/2003)

C.                 Contest Management

1.                  Home team supplies volleyballs for warm ups.

2.                  Home team supplies qualified line judges.

3.                  Home team is responsible to call results in to the media.

4.                  Each team is responsible for their own game stats-visiting coach should give home team coach newspaper stats before leaving.

5.                  Introduction

6.   If the National Anthem is played-it will be played 2 minutes before the start of the Varsity game.  Teams should be on the court for the playing of the National Anthem.

 

V.        Officials

 

A.  Varsity officials for conference contests are hired by the conference commissioner.

B.   The two officials hired by the conference commissioner will officiate the J.V. and Varsity contests.

C.  The host school is responsible to hire one or two officials for the freshman match.

 

VI. All Conference

           

A.       Coaches will select a seven player first team and a seven player second                           team in each division. (10/10/04)

B.                 All Conference selection procedure.  (See Appendix F)

C.                 Any nominee who is not on first or second team that receives a vote is on the honorable mention list.

 

VII. Awards

 

A.  Badger North and Badger South Champions will be determined by the won and lost record.

B.   A trophy shall be awarded to the conference champion(s).

C.  All-Conference first team receives a medal, certificate and a folder.

D.  All-Conference second team receives a certificate and a folder. 

 

VIII. Meetings

 

A.  W.I.A.A. rules meeting.

B.   The Conference coaches meeting will be held on the Monday following WIAA regional competition.
