Adult gives direction.  Student doesn’t follow it. 

Adult repeats direction and gives the student a choice to comply or there will be a consequence.

Administration is contacted.  Child is removed from the area.

Student stays in alternative site for a minimum of half a day.

Student processes behavior with an adult and meets with teacher and administration before returning to mainstream classes.

 

Repeated Behavior in a Short Period of Time - Parent is contacted, student is sent home.

 

Student and parents have a readmit conference the next morning.  Student can not return without parent/student attendance and participation.  The purpose is to be certain that the student has processed the behavior and is ready to return to the school environment.

 

Intimidation/Bullying

 

Tell student to stop!

Explain what is acceptable.

 

Bully and victim are reported to the Guidance Counselor for counseling. 

 

Incident must be recorded including action, victim, etc.

 

Guidance Counselor needs to meet with both parties within the same day and reports results to parents.  

 

  1.  Phone call to parents to inform of incident and referral to guidance by guidance counselor
  2. Parent, Student, Administrator meeting.  Make a plan of action to improve behavior which may include a modified educational program and/or police intervention.
  3. Repeated behavior may lead to pre-expulsion/expulsion hearings.

 

 

Inappropriate Language

Directed Inappropriate Language

Do not confront.  Contact the Office to have child removed.

Teacher/Adult needs to document incident within the same day. 

3 day minimum suspension with a mandatory readmit conference.  Referral to police.

Fighting

Create a safe environment. (Diffuse crowd) Remove students to a safe place.  Contact Administration.  Document incident.

3 day minimum suspension with a mandatory readmit conference.  Referral to police.

Threat (verbal or written)

Adult contacts Administration.  Bring any evidence.

Student is evaluated by school psychologist using a violence/risk assessment and makes recommendations to the parents.

Mandatory 5 day suspension (minimum)

Mandatory readmit conference with Administrator and threatened party.

 

Referral to the Police.
