Tenth Hour Expectations

In keeping with the philosophy that all students can learn, Oregon High School schedules a Tenth Hour each Thursday afternoon and occasionally on an as-needed basis.  Unlike the other nine periods, no regular classes are scheduled for Tenth Hour.  The period is designed to help students and teachers access one another where students can do make up work, retake tests, get individual help, or explore areas of interest.  All teachers will be available to give help to students.  All classrooms, music rooms, libraries, physical education areas, computer labs, etc. will be open.

If a teacher believes that a particular student is behind in his/her work, then that teacher may give the student an assignment which REQUIRES that student to report for Tenth Hour.  A student may be given an assignment any day of the week and at any time.  Failure to report will result in an unexcused absence.  If a student receives more than one invitation for the same day, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the second teacher that he/she already has an assignment for that day and make arrangements to complete the work.
