Dying To Be Thin
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder that affects up to 3 out of every 100 women and girls. Written by a survivor of the devastating condition, Dying to Be Thin tells the story of 17-year-old Amanda Jones, a teen who equates being skinny with being happy. On the surface, Amanda?s war is with food, but in truth, food is the weapon she uses in a battle with low self-esteem. Presented by Roseneath Theatre Company of Ontario, Canada, this play is a powerful look inside the issues of body image and peer pressure. Note: This show recommended for teens and adults.

OMS PhyEd Guidelines Expectations
Physical Education is a required experience according to the State of Wissconsin. Our goal is to provide students with a variety of experiences so that they learn how to live a healthy and physically active life. ALL students must have physical education. Over the past several years students have become increasingly resistant to activities requiring physical activity. This document outlines the OMS PE requirements as described by Ms. Jackson and Mr. Fleming our PE teachers.

Staying Involved: Approaches to Helping Our Middle School and High School Students Learn
Excerpt: "Learning is a process that requires the use of available resources to connect new understanding to prior knowledge. Learning this skill is what becoming an independent learner is all about. Yet, it is a difficult skill for many students to master. In today?s educational climate, where increasing standards and high-stakes exams force teachers to convey large amounts of information, there is not much time left for students to hone the skill of learning. Family members, as more experienced learners, are critical resources that can help students develop their skills, and eventually become independent learners."
