| Welcome from the Administrators. |

My name is Jan Bonsett-Veal and I am excited to be the principal of Rome Corners Intermediate School. This is my 17th year in the Oregon School District. For the first seven of those I worked out of the District Services Office as the Director of Special Education. I then moved to Oregon Middle School where I spent four years as co-principal. I was then assigned to Netherwood Knoll Elementary while RCI was being built and the program here being developed. Prior to becoming an administrator, I spent many years as a teacher working with students who had emotional/behavioral or learning difficulties. Their grade levels ranged from pre-school to high school.
We opened our doors at RCI in the fall of 2001 and I believe offer a wonderful program designed to meet the developing academic, social and emotional needs of intermediate-aged students. It is at this level that the transition to middle school begins, but we have tried hard to maintain some aspects of the elementary program so as to gradually prepare our students for the increasing independence and self-reliance needed as they transition to the middle school. We have worked hard to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere where the children can learn and grow and we continue to reflect on what has been in an effort to continue to improve.

My name is Todd Bresser. I am thrilled to be working at Rome Corners Intermediate School as the assistant principal. This is my tenth year of employment in the Oregon School District. I worked at Oregon High School for four years as an English teacher, then worked at Oregon Middle School for three years as an administrative intern. Upon completion of my master’s degree in educational administration, I returned to the high school as one of the associate principals. That brings us to this year, my first year working at RCI. I am looking forward to working with a terrific staff and a great group of students.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the first few months of my job at RCI. The students are excited to learn and the staff works hard to provide them with a challenging, rewarding education. I anticipate watching the students grow tremendously throughout the year.
