In the Oregon School District, students learn the touch method of keyboarding when they are in third grade. They continue with keyboarding class in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade. A review is offered in seventh grade. In eighth grade, an introductory business course is offered that allows students to review keyboarding. No formal keyboarding courses are offered at the high school because it is expected the students will come to high school with keyboarding skills.

3rd Grade
Third grade students meet for 30 minutes each day for five weeks. By the end of third grade, students will be able to:

  • Use the correct keyboarding techniques
  • Keep their fingers on the home row (asdf jkl;).

"It's fun to learn keyboarding."

"I'm learning while I'm having fun."

"Keyboarding is fun!"

"Typing is the best thing in the world!"

"It's easier to type since keyboarding class."

"It helps me type faster."

WHAT'S NEXT AT RCI?
