Writing (9:00-9:50)

This year we are going to learn a lot about writing!  The first month of school will be spent setting up our writer's notebooks.  This will be where we collect all of our ideas.  We will also keep a notebook with all of our rough drafts.  We learn about the writing process and how writers take an idea and form a draft.  We will learn about the craft of writing, focusing on the six traits.  These traits are: ideas and details, conventions, organization, word choice, sentence fluency and voice.  There are several genres we will study this year, but we will always approach the writing through these six traits.
